During this interactive panel, participants will learn how to work with a search firm partner as they explore their career opportunities. Participants will learn how to navigate the search process and how to position their skills and experiences in alignment with the roles they are seeking. Participants will have the opportunity to ask panelists questions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify how to best translate skills and experiences to align with articulated job competencies.
  2. Understand how to work in partnership with an executive search firm.
  3. Understand the steps of a search process.

About the Speaker

Laura Bertonazzi, Senior Search Associate, Koya Partners

Laura Bertonazzi joined Koya Partners | Diversified Search Group in August 2022, following a 15-year career in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Regis College in Weston, MA. During her tenure at Regis, Laura held progressive leadership roles in the areas of Campus Activities, Residence Life, Student Conduct, Veterans Affairs, and Accessibility Services. During her most recent appointment, Laura served as the Dean of Undergraduate Enrollment and Retention, whereas she led a comprehensive enrollment and retention strategy for the university. Prior to her work in higher education, she was an educational advocate and teacher. In addition to her work in Student Affairs and Enrollment, Laura has a depth of experience in first-generation programming, enrollment and financial aid, academic program development, compliance, adult learner populations, strategic planning, and crisis management. As an adjunct faculty member at the University of New England, Laura instructs coursework on change management, policy analysis, research methods, and dissertation development.Outside of higher education, Laura volunteers within her local community and serves on a patient and family advisory council for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Beth Schaefer, Managing Director, Koya Partners

Beth is a Managing Director in the Education Practice of the Diversified Search Group, based in Boston.Beth has 20 years of corporate experience in human resources rolesand over a decade of executive recruitment experience in thecorporate, non-profit, and higher education fields. At Koya, Bethspecializes in national searches for leadership positions including, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Finance and Administration, Chief Human Resources and Culture Officer, Chief Information Technology Officer, Chief Facilities and Management Officer, and in academic leadership, searches for Provosts and Deans and those who are part of their leadership teams with universities such as Emory University, Furman University, the University of North Carolina and Vanderbilt University. Beth also partners with arts and cultural heritage non-profit organizations such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Art to help them identify their leaders. Before joining Koya, Beth spent five years with Neumann Executive Search Partners (formerly, BrillNeumann Associates), first as a senior consultant and later as principal. Her background also includes professional experience in human resources roles andin a search firm specializing in human resources executive search.Beth is an active participant in career coaching and on panels with NACUBO, EACUBO, SACUBO, andACE. She is an active member of Boston-area human resources organizations, local community artsand environmental sustainability organizations, and volunteers at a women’s shelter. Beth is on theboard of The Pathway Initiative, an organization that makes dreams come true for students of color to have careers in medicine.Beth has a BS in Business from Providence College She earned her MBA from Simmons School of Management in Boston.
